Ammonium metatungstate may be used as an infrared shielding material, and therefore can be applied for the production of thermal insulating glass.
In order to save energy and reduce carbon emission, the glasses of buildings and automobiles are usually covered with a layer of heat insulation film to achieve heat insulation performance and energy conservation. Therefore, it is a trend to develop transparent heat insulation materials that are more resistant to infrared rays. And ammonium metatungstate is the material that can be applied to heat-insulating structures to meet the requirements of high light transmittance and high heat insulation.
The radiation range of sunlight reaching the ground is approximately 200~2500nm, of which 200~400nm are ultraviolet rays, 400~800nm are visible light, and 800~2500nm are near-infrared rays. The solar radiation energy is distributed in the visible light region of about 45%, in the near-infrared region of about 50%, and in the ultraviolet region of about 5%. The thermal insulating glass mainly blocks ultraviolet light and near-infrared light without affecting the daylighting conditions, thereby blocking heat radiation.
