Tungsten trioxide may be used as an infrared thermal insulation nano material, which has good characteristics of shielding near-infrared and ultraviolet rays, and good visible light transmittance. Formaldehyde can be used as an organic inducer to synthesize tungsten trioxide powder with novel morphology, which may improve its photochromic properties.
Formaldehyde Induced Synthesis of Hexagonal Tungsten Trioxide
The formaldehyde induced product is hexagonal tungsten trioxide powder with a particular structure. And the corresponding results show that these tungsten trioxide microspheres consist of many tungsten trioxide cubes with uniform grain size. The edge lengths of the tungsten trioxide cube range from 20nm to 50nm, and the average diameter of these microspheres is 500~800nm. This structure is conducive to the generation and transmission of photogenerated protons and optimizes the photochromic properties of the synthesized tungsten trioxide powders. In other words, researches on formaldehyde induced synthesis of tungsten trioxide are helpful for understanding the photochromic properties of tungsten trioxide.
