Orthorhombic Phase Tungsten Trioxide

Orthorhombic phase tungsten trioxide, i.e. tungsten trioxide with orthorhombic phase (WO3), can be prepared by hydrothermal synthesis (using different precursors and regulators, under the conditions of suitable temperature, concentration and pH).

According to simple chemical stoichiometric ratio, W:O is 1:3, its ideal crystalline structure can be seen as W atom in the center and the other six surrounded by it. Tungsten oxide octahedron (WO6) is joined by the same dome, there are many vacancies between octahedron and forms many paths. With the temperature going up, W atom in octahedron will diverge from center and cause partial deformed, and forms into many crystalline phase such as tetragonal phase, orchorhombic phase, monoclinic phase and triclinic phase.orthorhombic phase tungsten trioxide picture
To test whether the reaction temperature affects the morphology of the orthorhombic phase WO3, the results can be obtained by scanning the hydrothermal synthesis products at temperatures of 393k, 413k, 433k and 453k, respectively.

The test results show that the hydrothermal synthesis products at different temperatures are rectangular. This shows that the reaction temperature has no obvious effect on the morphology of the product.
