V-doped violet tungsten oxide, or V doped violet tungsten oxide, is doping V (vanadium) into VTO (W18O49) nanowire lattice structure to generate doped W18O49 nanowire. Some studies indicate that V doped violet tungsten oxide can be directly synthesized by solvothermal method, using tungsten hexachloride (WCl6) as tungsten source and NH4VO3 as dopant.
Studies have shown that the gas sensor made of V-doped tungsten oxide nanowire has obvious sensitive response at room temperature and good stability response to the nitrogen dioxide gas (NO2) with the concentration as low as 80 ppb. It means that W18O49 nanowire has good development and potential applications in the detection of thin NO2 under the room temperature.
Vanadium doping not only changes the growth kinetics of one-dimensional nanowires, but also induces the appearance of new surface states on the surface of the nanowires.
At the same time, the high-density non-stable surface state of the doped tungsten oxide nanowires promotes the surface oxygen adsorption, thus significantly improving the sensitivity of the W18O49 nanowires at room temperature.
