Potassium tungstate is a kind of white or colorless crystalline powder with monoclinic structure. It is insoluble in ethanol and soluble in water. The solubility in water (g/100ml) is 51.5g/20°C. Its chemical formula is K2O4W; Molecular weight is 326.03; CAS Number is 7790-60-5; Melting point is 921 degree celsius; Density is 3.12g/mL (25 degree celsius). It can be applied as analysis reagent, precipitation for alkaloid, and producing tungsten and bronze.
Ecological Effect
It is harmful to water. Do not pour into environment without government's permission.
Storage Method
Sealed in airtight container. And keep in a dry, cool place.
Producing Method
Mix K2Cr2O7 with tungsten powder; Heat to 1700 degree celsius within 0.1~0.2s, potassium tungstate and chromium sesquioxide. Reaction between W and KOH solution can obtain K2WO4. No reaction without oxygen.
